Back to the Blogger

Okay.
Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I'll explain:

I got the job, which you could figure out by reading the many comments left by Rod and Paige. I started a couple weeks ago. My schedule is 5:30pm - 12:30am, Friday - Tuesday. I've been trying to get used to this schedule with sleep and all.

I also did graduation commencement last weekend. I got to sing the National anthem for both days (they split the school into two groups so we aren't sitting in the hot sun for four hours).

I got to spend a day and a half just me and Nicole. That was great. We needed it. We went to the Shasta Caverns at Lake Shasta. It was fun. You cross the lake on a rickety boat, transfer to a surprisingly nice bus that takes you up the mountain, and then go into the cave. I'll post pictures soon.

When I got back to Vegas my cable and cable internet was disconnected. They don't know why, I paid the bill before it was due. Mistakes happen. I'm trying to keep up the story. When I'm finished with the next chapter I'll post it.

In the meantime check out these pictures. My co-worker Chad took them and his wife Paige posted them on her blog. Thanks guys!

This is the costume I wear as a Gatekeeper. We all wear this. Most of the women have a slight variation.

Here's a closer look at my makeup. Chad does the color for me with airbrushes. I did the eyeliner. Gary the Mime, who also got hired, was impressed and a little scared that could do my own eyeliner.

A Hyund-wha? & Pass the Motza please.

Sorry, but I'm not feeling creative with this entry. I'll just give it to ya'll straight.

As I stated earlier my Dodge Neon bit the big one and died on me. Well, I got a new car. It's a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. 4-door sedan, dual air-bags, side curtain air-bags, power locks and windows, a/c, and it's an automatic. It's champagne (gold) and drives really nice. Then again, compared to the Neon, almost anything that runs would drive nice. But I'm very happy with it. Now if only I could get a job so I can pay it off.

On another note, I enjoyed Passover with my Aunt Michell, Tonya (her girlfriend), Alia (my sister), Laura (her girlfriend), Kate (their friend), and Kate's cousin whose name I can't remember. It was fun, kinda short (like this post), but I enjoyed spending time with family.

Ch. 6: The Rite of The Audee Shone

I cautiously entered the cave of the Golden Lion, not knowing what might lurk around the next corner. Creeping along the wall I felt for clues, signs of where I might be headed. The high priests had instructed me to go to the Temple of the 54th god, Studio. The followers of Studio are known for their nightly rituals of dance and alcohol.

I turned a corner, and there, hidden in the wall of the cave was a large, ancient numeric symbol:

This was the place. Outside the entrance to the temple stood an older gentleman. I approached him.

"Hello, young man. Are you here for the sacred ritual?" asked the man, in a voice filled with paternal kindness.

"Yes. I am," replied I. "My name is Jarrod."

"A pleasure meeting you, Jarrod. My name is Gary. Gary the Mime." He extended his hand and we shook.

Odd, a talking mime. Will wonders never cease?

After a while more people started to arrive. And then a young man came from the entrance. The Taker of Names. We wrote our names on the Parchment of Names and were split into groups of four people.

I looked around at those in my group. Two women, Sylvia the Expert and Hope the Hopeful, and one other man, Terrence the Tall One. Sylvia had performed the rites on the last Day of Audee Shones, many moons ago. She explained the process to us. We all listened, hanging on every word, hoping for hints as to what we needed to do to please the gods.

At this point another man came out of the temple. The Usher of prospectives. He called forth the first group. This was my group. We entered the temple. Inside was a raised platform, commonly used for Studians to dance. There was also a small raised "stage" with steps leading up on either side. In front of the "stage" sat six priests known only as Audee Shoneers. They instructed us in the way of the Audee Shone.

First we paired off. One of the pair assumed the role of Gatekeeper. ( The Gatekeeper is the usher into the world of KA, providing great guest service while maintaining a distinct character from the world of the show.) The other partner portrayed an audience member. The Gatekeepr guided the audience member up the stairs, across the stage, and back down the stairs. Then the next pair went. Then the first pair went again, switching roles. Each person was Gatekeeper twice.

After performing the Dance of Improv, we were sent to the side while the Audee Shoneers conversed. After a moment we were instructed to sit before the Audee Shoneers. They then commenced in the ritual Questioning of The Prospectives. After answering the Questions of the Gods we were led back out to the cave, where we waited to be called forth once again.

Once we returned to the Floor of Dance an Audee Shoneer stood and taught us the ritual Dance of Eight Counts. The other Audee Shoneers watched us learn. Would they want us to perform this complicated thigh-slapping-pivot dance? No, they had seen enough. It was time to head back to the Temple Center of Employment. There we were given instructions to have a drug test and we would be called soon for the second interview.

Will Jarrod be called for a second interview? What happened with the film and the Hollywood Texan? And what about the car? Discover the answers in the next installment of:
