Death

So I get home after subbing yesterday, change into comfie clothes, turn on my computer, and get an error message.

I hate computers. I re-installed Windows five times before I could get it to install and run properly. Needless to say it frustrated me.

I hate computers. So now I have to re-install all of my programs so I can use them. Luckily none of my files were erased so I have pictures and stories and other things I've been working on. But still, I hate computers.

Story time

The manager for the Gatekeepers has decided to give us yet another challenge:

Write a story about the Gatekeepers.

The story will be read and "judged" by her, her boss, and the KA company manager. The story they deem to be the best will win dinner for two at one of the MGM restaurants.

Not one to pass up an opportunity to eat for free I have decided to try my hand at it. This is the opening to my story.

The fog hung low over the muddy beach. Crabs, recently dislodged from their hiding places, scuttled about. Waves crashed on the rain soaked shore line. Something moaned.

Storms don't stay long in this land. They approach with trepidation, drop what they've brought, then pass on as quickly as possible. There are many theories as to why this is. Some say it is because the gods have willed it to be. Others believe the land to be protected by ancestral spirits. Still others maintain that it is because of the ancient curse of barometrics. Whatever the case, the last storm was no exception. Something went bump.

The gull didn't know what it had hit; only that suddenly it was on the beach in a slight daze. It ruffled its feathers, got up on its feet, checked its jaw for any permanent damage, and was crushed by a large dingy. Four men stepped out, rattled by the fact that they had just landed on land, and a bird, but not water as they had hoped.
A quick survey of the area confirmed their fears. They were shipwrecked.

"Well, That's Showbiz!" DVD and Festival

I just got an e-mail from the director of “Well, That’s Showbiz!”  He’s sending us our copy of the film in a week or so. I’m very excited to see the finished product. He also said that the film has been accepted to the New York International Independent Film & Video Film Festival. It’s Nov. 10-17, so we’ll see in a couple months how it does. Wa-hoo!

Honeymoon Heaven for Two:

Okay. I sorta know where we're going for the honeymoon. We we're going to go on a cruise to the Caribbean that sailed out of New Orleans, but that's not going to happen due to recent events. While exploring the French Quarter by Gondola does sound romantic, I think we'll take that trip after they've had a chance to rebuild.

So now we're looking at Tahiti or Fiji. The "over-the-water" bungalows in Tahiti look so romantic and fun. Having breakfast served to you from a pontoon. Fiji looks just as exciting. I'd love to stay with Nicole in a private ocean view bure. Horseback riding on one of the deserted beaches.

Hooray for tropical paradises!

If anyone has any comments on either of these destinations please let me know.
